Day 7 Subject: Time to hit the ground running [firstname]! Hi [firstname], Once you've got your business model sorted, your domain registered, your hosting and mailing list needs taken care of, and your website designed and loaded with information (or a sales letter), there's one more step to take, because without this one vital ingredient you'll never make any money. That vital ingredient? Traffic! Let's face it, without a reliable way of getting your website noticed your stat's counter will be as empty as Tombstone before the outlaws ride in. The best (and cheapest) way of getting traffic to a website is to have it rank highly in Google and other search engines. That takes time and requires search engine optimization (SEO). SEO is a bit of a dark art IMHO, and best left to the experts. In the meantime, you should look at paid methods to get your site noticed. There are two main methods. The first (and best value for money) are solo ads. This is where you pay someone who has a list of subscribers in your niche to send an e-mail advertising your site or offer. The second method is by using pay-per-click ads (PPC). As the name would imply, these are advertisements where you pay a small fee every time someone clicks on the ad and is directed to your website. Of all PPC platforms, probably the best known one is Google AdWords. Adwords are the “wantads” style advertisements you see down the right-hand side of the page when you do a search in Google. Google are very particular about what sort of site you can send traffic to via an AdWords ad., so be sure to read their terms and conditions carefully. Just to make things even more confusing, these vary from country to country! You can find the ones that apply to your country here: https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/54818?hl=en-GB I hope you've found the information I've sent you over the last week or so interesting, and I hope it's inspired you to join me in the exciting world of IM.
