Day 4 Subject: [firstname], it's time to make contact! Hi [firstname], Yesterday, I said you should look for good blogs in your niche, investigate them, build up a rapport with the owner, and list them in order of preference. Once you've done that, it's time to contact the blog owners and suggest they publish one of your guest posts. The thing is: You should contact the owner at the bottom of your list first. Why? Because when you do something for the first time, you're going to be less than perfect in your approach. Chances are the owner will reject your approach or submission. When that happens, you'll need to find (or figure) out why. That way you can learn from the experience and move on. This is why it's so important to build up a rapport with the blog owner first. If he or she can see you as a friend and fellow expert, they will be much more likely to accept a guest post from you. If you have your own blog stacked with quality articles, they might even approach YOU and ask if you'd like to post an article on their blog. One thing you should NEVER do is send an article to a blog owner unsolicited. In the first instance you should send them an e-mail (either directly or via their contact form) and complement them on having such a good blog. Say that you have a blog in the same or similar niche, and send them a link. Ask if they accept guest postings, and if so, you would be honoured if they posted an article of yours. Stress that you don't want any payment, just a brief bio. And a link back to your site. I've only been able to scratch the surface of guest posting in these e-mails, but I go into more detail on the subject in Chapter 7 of my zero cost traffic guide.
